I’m sure you are familiar with the story  of how God was calling young Samuel but he kept
responding to Eli his teacher because he didn’t know it was the Lord calling. As I read the story again very recently, my eyes was opened to an interesting learning point. Do you realise that after Eli had told Samuel he wasn’t the one calling him twice, Samuel could have assumed he was the one hearing things, hence decided to silence or dismiss that voice within the next time he heard it?  As I think about it, I’m just wondering that is it possible that some of us have silenced voices within us because we didn’t get the desired outcomes in our previous attempts at obeying the voice/nudging? I’d like you to note that in Samuel case[and I believe this also applies for many of us], the voice was not wrong, it was the response that was inaccurate. That is why it is important that we have someone/people that we draw/learn from, someone that knows about these things and can teach us the right response.
1 Samuel 3:7 says - This all happened before Samuel knew GOD for himself. It was before the revelation of GOD had been given to him personally[MSG]. We can infer from this verse that before Samuel got a personal revelation of God, Eli was there to help him understand the things of God. Therefore, do you have such people in your life, someone you follow, either close range or from a distance, someone that helps you make sense of the voices and nudging you feel. You might be saying God has never spoken to you, when in actual fact, it  is you that has never responded to His voice. God loves you too much to lock up from you, don’t be too proud to admit you don’t know, just find someone to learn from. God Bless You!
