Can I just quickly inform you that the fact that someone has a high pedigree and has been successful at some point is not a guarantee that that person is qualified to guide you successfully. In a environment like ours, one of the things we need to learn is how to listen to the wisdom of elders, but not just take those words as a law, but use them to pursue the true intents of our heart.
In my opinion, one of the most important things you need to carefully choose in your youthful age is not just who you plan to marry, but also who you are listening to as an authority figure in your life. Notice I didn’t say who you are hearing, because you can hear the words of many people, but there must be a select few that you don’t just hear, but you listen to whatever they have to say. This choice, is almost as important as the choice of who to marry, because this choice can determine how far you would go in life.
Numbers 13:1-2 - God spoke to Moses: "Send men to scout out the country of Canaan that I am giving to the People of Israel. Send one man from each ancestral tribe, each one a tried-and-true leader in the tribe". I just noticed looking at this verse that the people that were sent to spy out Canaan were no ordinary men, but “tested and true” leaders, meaning they had been “on point” in the past, so how come many of them missed so much. I’m sure you know, that the reason many of the people could not eventually enter the promise land, was because they never forgot the evil report delivered by those leaders.
Hence, don’t just swallow the words of every leader/successful person hook, line and sinker because you might sink with it, seek out those who’s resolve have not been damaged by ill experiences, and listen intelligently. God Bless You!
