It is assumed that every time a babies cries, it is primarily a sign of hunger. So, just imagine a few weeks old baby crying in the arms of his mother, and when you suggest to her to feed him, she says "he has already had his breakfast, this boy needs to learn self control and understand that we humans only eat 3times daily". Can any mother say that? And if she does, she has to be heartless, right?

Now, I'm sure you've seen how those babies can't seem to get enough of food, 1 Peter 2:2 says to you and I - Desire God’s pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation[GW].

The first thing I'd like you to notice is the fact that this verse is not addressed to any particular class of Christian, it is addressed to us all. New convert, old, strong, not so strong, everyone. So no matter where you are, there is room for growth, and this comes by the word.

Therefore, just as the breast milk is very essential to every new born baby, and no other source of nourishment compares to that. Likewise, there's nourishment awaiting you and I in God's word that we can't quite get anywhere else. So, just understand that your diet is incomplete until you have fed on God's word. I hope you know that if only you can hear directly from God on every single matter, then your life is completely MADE. I heard a doctor share the testimony of how he got his first job. He was praying that morning and God told him to go to a particular place in Lagos, that there was a job for him there. He got dressed, and went as directed. According to him, since he didn't know where exactly the job was, he went to the beginning of the street, and started walking down, praying as he walked. By the time he had walked about half way down the street, he looked up and there, was an hospital. God told him to go in, he did and it just so happened that they needed a doctor at that time and that, was how he got the job.
Won't you like to have such an experience too, to just know exactly what to do or where to go, who to date and who not to date, etc. Its very possible to have that, but like the doctor told us during his testimony, that wasn't his first attempt at hearing God. As an undergraduate, he had learnt and practiced hearing from God, made his mistakes, that by the time he needed a job, he had learnt how to hear.
I'm sure many of us want to have such experiences too, but we want to start from the top. You see, growth is an essential part of our Christian life, and your ability to do/hear some things is highly dependent on how much you have grown.
Hebrews 5:14 says - But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law[AMP]. See, the truth is, God is gracious, so He will always come down to your level, He would always start with you from a level He knows you can hear, but He won't remain there, so you must be willing to grow. Much more than you want to hear, God wants to talk to you. Don't worry about making mistakes, you won't be the first, and the best part is, God doesn't complain about mistakes, He'd stay with you till you get it right.
