It is assumed that every time a babies cries, it is primarily a sign of hunger. So, just imagine a few weeks old baby crying in the arms of his mother, and when you suggest to her to feed him, she says "he has already had his breakfast, this boy needs to learn self control and understand that we humans only eat 3times daily". Can any mother say that? And if she does, she has to be heartless, right?

Now, I'm sure you've seen how those babies can't seem to get enough of food, 1 Peter 2:2 says to you and I - Desire God’s pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation[GW].

The first thing I'd like you to notice is the fact that this verse is not addressed to any particular class of Christian, it is addressed to us all. New convert, old, strong, not so strong, everyone. So no matter where you are, there is room for growth, and this comes by the word.

Therefore, just as the breast milk is very essential to every new born baby, and no other source of nourishment compares to that. Likewise, there's nourishment awaiting you and I in God's word that we can't quite get anywhere else. So, just understand that your diet is incomplete until you have fed on God's word.
