The Perfect Valentine's Day or YES?!
02:29It’s Valentine’s Day soon and the buzz is all over already. We know every one has plans on how to make the day extra-special for their partners, but we decided to give tips for our readers who…errr…
need a little help getting it all ordered. There have been Valentine’s Day dates and shindigs, there certainly are certainly going to be more Valentine days; ensuring that this is a memorable one should be the main focus.
Planning a beautiful Val’s day to spend with your partner should be based on the following tips:
1. Your loved one’s preferences: Do they love dressing up for a date in town or a weekend spent out of town? Would s/he prefer spoken words to karaoke? Are they crazy about music, movies, literature or sports? Nothing else should be set in motion except it is based on this first tip. Do not plan a date for your partner, while considering only what you’d love the day to be like. You'd definitely have some input, but ensure that all that is done passes the message of how much your partner means to you. And we all love it, when you put our interests and preferences into planning a date. Don’t you?
2. The Food: Valentine’s Day like most other dates are built around some food. The choice to either make a special meal that you and your partner would enjoy or visit a restaurant or even order in food is based on how you’ve set the day go by or on the first tip i.e, your partner’s preference. If you feel they’d appreciate a table set for two with candle lights, light music in the background with home made meal, please go ahead and cook. But some folks may prefer to eat at a classy restaurant, some place your partner has always wanted to eat at, then please be sure to make reservations at the restaurant ahead of time so as to avoid any delays or disappointments.
Waiting around for a table or your food could really dampen a great day. In Nigeria, there are loads of catering service companies, who’d have all you need made and sent to your home. So if you’d love to spend the day at home, without cook and also avoiding the bustle of the restaurants in town, do well to place an order, have someone else cater for your cuisine and delivered to your home. It’s a win-win.

P.S: Do not forget DESERTS!!!
3. Wine: I think Valentine’s Day totally calls for the perfect wine or champagne (methinks). But while picking your wine, ensure it doesn’t conflict with the food you have planned. Ensure that the wines you decide compliments, not too shabby or too extravagant as compared to, the meal.
4. The Gift: The thoughts that go into the gifts picking weighs more than how expensive or inexpensive the gift is. A bouquet or single stem of roses, orchids, chrysanthemums or your partner’s favorite flowers would be great for women who enjoy the traditional Valentine’s gift of flowers. A card with a selection of words written by you or from their favorite poem, author or movie would melt many a heart. A locket on a chain, a photo book of all your dates, or any personal gift which reflects how you feel about your partner would be perfect this Valentine’s.
The gifts could also be tickets to an event they wish to attend, a book they’ve always wanted to own, an helicopter flight over the city, weekend get away at an island s/he has been going on and on about?

No matter how expensive or inexpensive the gifts are, ensure that they express to your partner how attentive you are to their needs.
5. Conversation Flow: Be sure to come prepared with topics of interest to talk about throughout the time spent together. If you’re home, you don’t want to lull your date to sleep or have him/her feel awkward during long stretches of silence.
Discussions about work, a project they are working on or just concluded, friends and family, causes they are passionate about or shared interests. You could do this while holding hands while taking a stroll or cuddling or gazing into each other’s eyes…*sighs dreamily*…etcetera etcetera.
Remember that it should be a CONVERSATION, so be prepared to offer opinions, ask appropriate questions and not make your partner feel like it’s a tribunal. *grins*.
For fun, you could play one or two word games which would help you know more about each other and of course bring in some goofiness, laughter and relaxation.
6. Memoirs: This is of utmost importance, fam! Pictures (selfies with pouts and kisses and goofiness and….fill in the gap) and videos (mini-interviews, laughing or fooling around among other things) should be a part of your day. Weeks afterwards, the smiles and tenderness that these evidence would bring is totally priceless. Plus you never know when you need to be forgiven, they’d come in handy *evil grins*
In conclusion, dress up, set the mood for romantic ambience by speaking in gentle and loving tones, keep your partner in a good mood, steal kisses, hold hands, give all your attention to them. Keep the mood right, fam!
These are just tips or ideas that we think would make a perfect Valentine’s Day, how this day turns out depends largely on you. If you keep the pleasure of your partners as the focus, it should turn out alright.
