I had an urge to pray and that verse was what came to my heart, believe me when I say I thought it was Matthew 14 but Google helped me realise that the verse is actually in Matthew 11. So you see,
God doesn't want you to come because you have all the Bible passages, prayer filled tongue or spirit lifting worship crammed. God desires a relationship with you...just because..
"Come to me all ye who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11: 28
The Bible says "Come to me, all ye who labour and heavy laden...", this is an acknowledgement of everyone's hustle and the need to make a better life for yourself. God understands that, He doesn't want to stop you from doing this, He wants you to bring all those "wahala" to Him. So if you are tired of struggling on your own, by yourself, God is waiting to lend you a helping hand. He wants to share the risks, the frustration, the disappointments and hurts. Just come!
...and I shall give you rest"... Hustling day and night doesn't mean you are not a man of faith, it just means even though God said it and you have received it, you are also gonna play your part. You know what your part is???
It is accepting His gift of rest to tiredness, of wisdom to your failed attempts, of love to your battered heart, of strength to your weakened resolve and reaching out to take His hand in acceptance of His companionship. So whatever besets you, God is willing to give you rest, beautiful ideas, wonderful opportunities, renewed strength and above all, the joy of your salvation.
Verse 30 says, "For my burden is light and my yoke is easy....." This verse means, no matter how big you think your issues are, God has all the time in the world to listen and be there for you. No matter how hard your yoke is, in His infinite mercies He willingly already took it upon Himself by giving Jesus Christ to die for you and I.
No matter the issues you are faced with, God is willing to share your pains and listen to your cry. He wants to help work out the tense muscles and rub away the ache in your back. God doesn't say that you shouldn't work, He understands why you have to do all that you do to get by. God just wants you to allow His help, His rest and His companionship. There is a special person that needs all of Him...and that special someone is YOU!
