John was one of the lucky ones, he had the kind of life most people passing out of youth service only
dream about. As of the day his passing out, he already had his employment letter from a large manufacturing company in town, and the pay was good too, N150,000 for a start. John knew that was the kind of place he wanted to build a career so he quickly settled into the job.
dream about. As of the day his passing out, he already had his employment letter from a large manufacturing company in town, and the pay was good too, N150,000 for a start. John knew that was the kind of place he wanted to build a career so he quickly settled into the job.
12 months down the line, he was 26, had moved out of his parent’s house, looking forward to tying the knots with his campus sweetheart. He had always wanted to start a family early, then something happened.
John decided to use his discretion on a particular job, it was a project for one of the company’s biggest clients, and he got the entire process all wrong. The company lost a lot of money, almost lost the client and if reported, John’s certification could also be withdrawn. The MD gave John 2 options, fire him and also report him to the regulatory body, or let him keep his job, but he would have to pay for damaged part of the machine he used, which cost 10 million. John agreed that 50% of his monthly salary be deduction, but it was the month before he was due for promotion, so he now has to learn to live on N75,000.
Just before some would start crying, let me quickly point out that this is not a true story, but I hope I’ve been able to give you a vague idea of what life would have been like if Jesus had not come to die for you and I, using a modern day scenario. John would have had to pay for about 11 years, imagine having to pay a dept for the rest of your life, but thank God for Jesus, Colossians 1:14 says - His Son paid the price to free us, which means that our sins are forgiven [God’s Word].
I hope you’ve found a reason to be grateful to God today, and just in case you haven’t, then it’s never too late to meet Jesus.
God Bless You!
