Entrepreneurs: "Through The Eyes of Struggles"

13:20

Entrepreneurs have varying reasons for setting out to become business owners, these reasons range from passion to need for impact, from motivation to pursuit of success, from opportunity to the need to not be poor or broke. I believe, no matter the reason, there's dignity in labor and the reason for deciding to make more of one's life is VALID.
It is Monday and the start of another amazing week, so we decided to bring you our Men in Business series, it is officially our #MenDay.

Today, our first male Entrepreneur is Justin Tochukwu Emedosi, who became an Information Technologist because he struggled to get I.T placement. When he asked that we promote his business, he titled the mail "Through The Eyes of Struggle".
When I saw the title, I was curious to see what his struggles were exactly and why his motive for starting his I.T firm was borne through his struggles.

JukemTech
Mr. Justin Tochukwu

Hi Justin! Can you please tell us a little about yourself, please?
"I am Justin Tochukwu, a graduate of Computer Science from Ajayi Crowther University Oyo. I am the CEO of Jukem Technology (JukemTech,) an IT company that offers IT solutions and services ranging from Web development, Mobile App development, Branding and graphics design, Social media management and general IT Consulting."

When and why did you decide on Information Technology?
"The vision to birth JukemTech was conceived while I was in 300 Level in the university but during my Industrial Training (IT) the zeal to get the dream to materialize grew stronger. During my search for my Industrial Training Placement, the search lasted for about 4months, I remember been frustrated and dejected. While walking through Marina and Victoria Island, submitting my CV all to no avail while some required connection in the company to get employed. I remember hiking back with my shirt, soaked with sweat and tie loosened most times.
I smile now because, in retrospect, my situation was what I see mostly in Nigerian movies ; but I didn’t give up, I kept searching for a placement until finally I stumbled into a firm . This was  two months  before the end of the stipulated 6 months Industrial Training Period, I was taken without pay but I gained a wealth of knowledge. God bless the day I walked into that firm."

So how did you get from that experience to starting JukemTech?
"After graduation from the university, while awaiting National Youth Service (NYSC) commencement, I went back to the IT firm where I did my Industrial Training. Luckily for me, I was retained by the firm so I learnt enough to get JukemTech started in 2012.
Also, my parents were not buoyant enough to foot the bill of my professional certifications, so I learnt almost everything I know off the internet, through tutorials and online courses. I didn’t attain professional certification at a time but I was as good as, if not better than, those that had it. This also equipped me with enough on-hand knowledge to build JukemTech.
After NYSC, I was asked by the firm to work with them, but I turned down the offer because I had bigger dreams. I set out on my own, started JukemTech, along the way some like-minded people became my associates and the rest, as they say, is history."

Hmmmm... It's a very interesting journey you've been on, Justin. What projects has JukemTech completed?
"I learnt web development and started blogging. My first project was www.infotechnews.org, we grew and are still growing. Some of our projects are:

Advice for those venturing into the I.T world?
"For those upcoming firms or "ITpreneurs", it won’t be easy but  you will come out on top if you don’t give up. Don’t major in minors and minor in majors, keep updating and improving yourselves. Technology is always advancing so don’t be left behind, what you need is determination, focus, and then the Grace of God which is always available. It is baffling how much time youths spend on the internet doing all sorts when they could educate themselves and learn so much from the Internet. For example, click here and you are sure to find a bunch of free courses you can subscribe to and learn.
See you at the top!"

I agree, it is inspiring and quite courageous how he built his I.T firm from seeing success through the eyes of struggles.
