I find it a little surprising that the Bible would say so boldly that it's impossible to love God and not love people, but i know it won't be there if it's not true.

Wait a minute, let's put things in proper perspective. I believe this verse is not talking about how crowded your life is. It's not about the number of followers you have or how large your gang is, do you really love those people around you, or it's all faking. Also, this has nothing to do with the number of relationships you've been involved in, do you have love running the show in your life?

I know nobody want to be an enemy of God, so while you constantly work on your relationship with Him, know that the way you treat the people you come in contact with on a daily basis will give you an idea if your love for God is genuine, or it's just lip service. God Bless You!
