If the name Chierika Ukogu doesn't ring a bell, I'd tell you who she is. She's the young Nigerian who put medical school at Stanford on hold in order to represent her country in a relatively unpopular sport, rowing at the Olympics. This is post is not about medals, because with or without a medal, that lady has done something unique.
While many of us are busy fussing about what the government should or shouldn't do, a young lady saw a vacuum and decided to fill it. It is said that she sourced for funds herself, that's wrong, enough reason to back down and decide either go somewhere else or just quit, but she went on. Now, I want to believe she would be proud of herself, and most people are proud of her too, because if she could do this much with little support, then it means she'd do more with more support.
What vacuum can you see from where you are standing? Truth is, every vacuum created by the inefficiency of a leader is an opportunity for followers to both make life better and enter into leadership. When Isaac had to dig wells, each time he dug a well and there was contention over it, he'd just leave the well for them and move elsewhere. When he finally dug a well and no one came to contend with him, hear what he said, Genesis 26:22 - He moved from there and dug another well. No one argued about this one, so he named it Room Enough. Isaac said, “Now the Lord has made room for us, and we will be successful in this land"[NCV]. Hence, dear Nigerian(Africans), some of the vacuum you complain so much about are Wells waiting to be dug. You have the power to change things, God lives and works within you, just make your move and watch the resources from heaven back you up. God Bless You!
