When you talk about songs that are like fine wine, always relevant, never outdated, the song above is definitely one of them. This song lives up to it's name, as it has a nerve calming tune that gradually ushers in God's peace into heart.
I decided to check the meaning of the word comforter, and out of the several, I liked this one - A person who reduces the intensity (e.g., of fears) and calms and pacifies • a comforter of anxiety.
I'm sure you must have heard about global warming, and if not, you have to agree that the intensity of the sun, especially during dry seasons seems to have multiplied when compared to some years ago. Well, the basic explanation that has been given for this is the depletion of the ozone layer. So because human activities continue to erode the ozone layer, more heat waves from the sun is getting to us, which is why the weather is hotter now. Hence, it means when the ozone layer was intact, it took most of the heat from the sun on our behalf, it was our "comforter".
Likewise, that is the kind of job God wants to do for you and I, taking the heat so that we can walk through any fire untouched, like we ball with dragons. Can you now see how Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego survived in the fire? God was their comforter, their ozone layer.
See what God says He'd do when He comforts you; Isaiah 51:3 - So the Lord will comfort Jerusalem; he will show mercy to those who live in her ruins. He will change her deserts into a garden like Eden; he will make her empty lands like the garden of the Lord . People there will be very happy; they will give thanks and sing songs[NCV]. Therefore, do you need a comforter in any area of your life, this is God submitting His application. Note that I've not said there is no "heat' in the world, I'm saying there is a reliable Comforter, Jesus, who already took "the heat", so you can live the good life. God Bless You!
