As expected, everyone has suddenly gone philosophical after the inauguration of President Trump. Our timeline is being flooded with wise words about how the President's victory was won, but this is not the first time, we have seen it before.
I remember how students stayed up all night to follow President Obama's election, I remember how my campus erupted with celebrations when President Obama's victory was announced, and just like we are doing now, how wise words flew everywhere. However, how many of these wise words and philosophies do we apply when it's time for us to make our own decisions here in Africa?
Just as Americans were preparing to make welcome their 45th President, our brothers in Gambia were hoping their country doesn't get torn apart because their president, who has been in power for 22yrs has refused to accept his election defeat.
Psalms 37:16 says - It is better to have little and be right than to have much and be wrong[NCV].
Maybe you saw just one hero yesterday, President Trump, but I saw many. I saw many people led by President Obama and Secretary Clinton, who despite having strong opposing views about the man, came to show support for the sake of many. I saw men who would rather stand on the sidelines of one strong America than hold positions of power in fragments of a divided America.
The next time there's an election, I hope you remember all these philosophies and apply them, but more importantly, I hope God gives us all the wisdom to stand behind one strong nation and nudge it forward, even if we don't like the man leading the team. God Bless You!

For me, one of the most important lessons from the book of Job is that, even if you lose everything, you can recover all and still come out ahead of those who lost nothing at all.
You know that the dictionary and the encyclopedia were made so that you can easily check the meaning and proper use of a word whenever the need arises. Likewise, God gave us the Bible as our manual for life, so that whatever happens to us, we can look inside, find a similar experience and the expected outcome.
For Job, he was the greatest man in the east - that's like saying the richest man in Africa. Like you know, when there is No.1, it also means we have No. 2, 3... But when he lost all, he must have been off the list. However, Job 42:10 says - Then, when Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his wealth and happiness! In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before![TLB].
Therefore, what have you lost? What is that thing you wish you never had to let go of but you had no choice? I'm here to tell you that God doesn't just want to restore you back to how it was before, but He also wants to give you double like He did for Job. So stick with Him, it's not over until you win. God Bless You!

Saying you believe the report of the Lord when things are looking good is pretty easy, but are your confessions still consistent with the Lord's report when things are not looking so good?
Again, I'd like to remind you that the Bible didn't say the government is the light of the world, it says YOU, the child of God, are the light of the world. It means when things are dark and gloomy, like the reports on the news have been, the child of God is supposed be a source of inspiration to others around.
However, being a child of God has nothing to do with living in denial, it doesn't mean we say one thing with our mouth, but our heart is filled with as much worry as anyone else. Therefore, if that be the case, where then do we get our light from, the hope that shines through us to the world? Psalms 119:105 says - Your word is a lamp for my steps; it lights the path before me[VOICE]. Hence, no matter how hopeless the situation around might seem, God's word is the light, and it has the power to lead you to your high places. Now, when your path has been flooded with light, you can then be the light for the rest of the world. God Bless You!

Is it possible to serve God and Mammon at the same time? No! But does that imply that it is not
Anchor Song: Without You

I woke up this morning with a desire to share with you something I really love, something I’m sharing not because I have to make a pill, but one that even if I decide to just sit and get high on music, I’d gladly choose from. I didn’t really even know where to start from, but 2014 just kept coming to mind, so I decided to call up my 2014 albums and the moment I opened the album the song anchored above is from, it was finished, I knew I was right where I needed to be, with one of the best albums gospel music was blessed with in the year 2014.
Sometimes, it is not the biggest words or the longest speeches that communicates the purest intent, but a few words, enveloped by a pure heart. Honestly, this song is such a beautiful love song to God, but some part of this song can actually pass as one of those songs you can borrow from God and use on “Bae” and I can tell you she would blush. However, much more than the butterflies that special person makes you feel, I hope you also get to the point where you have something real with God.
Therefore, just like the biblical Job, I hope you get to the point where loosing everything you hold dear wouldn’t even move your heart an inch away from God, and like Abraham or even Joseph, having everything you ever wanted draws you even closer with God. Like David, I hope you can say “As a deer thirsts for streams of water, so I thirst for you, God”[NCV] – Psalms 42:1, and when it’s all said and done, you will gladly say, I don’t ever want to live without God, no matter what it takes. God Bless You!
