How sharp is your tongue? So many people take pride in having a very sharp tongue, but I'd just like to ask, what are you doing with it? Jesus was talking to His disciples, which includes you and I, and He said; John 6:63 - Life is spiritual. Your physical existence doesn’t contribute to that life. The words that I have spoken to you are spiritual. They are life[GW]. Thinking about this verse, I couldn't help but just wonder, that if the words of Jesus are Spirit and life, doesn't that suggest that our words should also be just like that? However, how can your words be Spirit and Life when all you do with your sharp tongue is pierce people's heart? No, I think such words should be qualified as Spirit and death.
Just think about it, how many times did you hear that Jesus insulted anyone, even those that were actively trying to kill Him? How many times did you hear that Jesus washed down anyone, even those that were caught red handed in sin? So please tell me how you are doing the will of God by doing what Jesus did not do with the resource (sharp tongue) that God has given you.
Bible says life and death is in the power of the tongue, so I believe that everyone who has a very sharp bad mouth also has a very sharp "good" mouth, but those people only decided to focus on the bad. So, if you are one of those that have been committing murder on the Spirits of others with your words, I think today is a good day to stop. If physical murder is not acceptable before men, do you think emotional/spiritual murder would be acceptable to God? Its very okay to have a sharp tongue, but let it be sharp in delivering words that bring life, hope, joy and peace. As a disciple of Jesus, let your words always reflect what He stands for. God Bless You!
