The lies I found in the "Grace of God", would be the best way to describe what I want share with you today. Over the past one week, I've been looking for a way to balance what I want to share today, so that I won't fall into the same error I'm trying to expose.
Unmerited favour, the most common definition of Grace, is very correct. Also, we say things like getting things you do not deserve, but at the back of our minds, we tend to stretch grace to the point where it then means "reaping what you did not sow", which is what I referred to earlier as "the lies I found in grace". You see, there is nothing wrong with the Grace of God, but somehow, people tend to stretch it's meaning in order to make it convenient, and they do it so much that they end up with extremes.
Honestly, when a students says I hope to make all As by the grace of God, what comes to your mind? Most times, you think grace takes effect after that student writes the exam and it appears "bloody", but what if the work of grace is to help you read and understand better and faster compared to others?
1 Corinthians 15:10 says - But by the [remarkable] grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not without effect. In fact, I worked harder than all of the apostles, though it was not I, but the grace of God [His unmerited favor and blessing which was] with me[AMP]. Many of us think of grace only in terms of getting the undeserved result, not putting in exceptional/mind blowing work. But here, Paul stressed that grace enabled him WORK HARDER than others. You see, God is not a cheat, and grace is not His cheat code. Rather, grace is an enabler, energizer - to do more. Hence, there are two sides to grace, the You part and the God part. God gives you grace to do more than the ordinary, you don't deserve it, but because of what Jesus has done He gives it to you anyway. Then, like Paul said, you don't let that grace go to waste, you let it energize you to do more, so that when you get the exceptional result, you know it wasn't your power that did it, but the grace of God. God Bless You!
