I completely agree that Nigerians are indeed one of the wonderful set of people in the world, and one of the unique things about us is our sense of humour. We might not acknowledge it, but I believe that this our ability to laugh does more than we know when it comes to our health, remember, even the Bible says that "a merry heart does good like medicine".
So I saw this joke on social media, a question and the response someone gave.
Question - Why is attempted suicide a crime in Nigeria?
Ans. - Because "we" are all in this together, you can't come and be trying to escape the suffering, very disloyal!
Reading this really cracked me up, but it also reminded me of some things my teacher had said before, so I took instructions.
The statement above might be a joke, but the truth is that many people think you are disloyal when you refuse to agree with a popular opinion, or follow the normal thought pattern. When everyone says things are hard, not you refuse to, you are not loyal. When they all say terrible things about the boss, but you've decided to focus on his good side, you are not loyal. When someone finds a way to cut corners and make some extra cash, but you refuse, you are not loyal. Please, let's get things straight, our loyalty does not lie with popular opinion, but with the word of God. Isaiah 60:2 says - Darkness now covers the earth; deep darkness covers her people. But the Lord shines on you, and people see his glory around you[NCV], but how can this verse be true in your life when you have already join the majority in complaining about the darkness? Therefore, if you have an opinion that is shared by 99% of the people in the world, but it contradicts what God's word says about you, I just need you to know that you are disloyal.
