Anchor Song: My Hero
Artist: Kirk Whalum
If you disregard excellence/quality on the basis of religion, your Christianity is questionable. Our minds are wired to recognize and embrace good things, you might not like an individual, but if the person does a good job, you should still be able to tell the person, this is good!
I was at a live Jazz concert that featured Kirk Whalum and it was awesome, hearing him play that sax live was simply beautiful and I couldn't just get enough of it. For those that don't know, Kirk Whalum is a Grammy award winning jazz artist, and he is the saxophonist that slayed Whitney Houston's recording breaking song, "I Will Always Love You". The best part is that this man is not just relevant in the church, he is also relevant in the world.
Matthew 5:16 says - In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven[MSG]. As children of God, as much as God sees our hearts and our relationship with Him is dependent on that, the people around only see our hands, and it is by what we create with our hands that we can influence them. My teacher would always say that the only way throughout history that we have known that God is with a man is that the man does things with his skill that ordinary men marvel at. Daniel was called to become the kings right hand man because he was better than anyone else at the job. Moses' rod swallowed up the rods of the magicians, Joseph could solve problems others thought as being impossible, and by these acts, the world concluded that God must be with them. Therefore, as much as God is after your heart, He's also after your hands because that is the part that draws more men to Him. You really want to bring glory to God? Don't stop until you are the best at what you do, then when others ask you how you got there, tell them God did it and watch if they won't want to find out who that God is. God Bless You!
