The Diary of A Growing Christian: Loving Me, In Spite Of
05:20
I have often heard people say, " I've gone too far away, God can't really still love me". I have heard it from the seemingly most assured people, to people who are leaders in their own right, and I've heard
also from people whose life journey has led them through a path that resulted in low self-worth.
also from people whose life journey has led them through a path that resulted in low self-worth.
So you see, both the "mighty and meek" have felt at some point that they have strayed too far away from God and this has stopped many a man from committing their lives to Jesus Christ.
Earlier this week, look at what I found;
Is any man called being uncircumcised? Let him not become circumcised. Is any man called being circumcised? Let him not be uncircumcised.
For circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision, but the keeping of the commandments of God
- 1 Cor 7: 18 - 19 (KJV)
Hmmmmm!!!!
I pondered on this passage for a while and it finally led me to understand that God is just willing to build a relationship with us. He wants us to come to Him in faith through our Lord, Jesus Christ. He doesn't care where we have fallen, all He wants is for us to be restored to the path of daily working out our salvation.
Here is how I arrived at this conclusion; let's see what verse 18 says;"Is any man called being uncircumcised? Let him not become circumcised. Is any man called being circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised".
"Called" in this passage, means the point when you decide to give your life to Christ, when you have come to the place where you accept your need of Jesus Christ, that stage in your life when you need the hand of God upon your life and circumstances.
"Being circumcised/uncircumcised?" Ehen! This is the crux of the matter, where I kept at for a while before it finally dawned on me. *rolls back shirt-sleeves*
The word of God is yea and amen, right? So if the Bible records that whether circumcised or uncircumcised, just come as you are. How far gone do you consider yourself? What bond of sin do you feel has held you down for so long? The troubles, hustles and struggles of life have becoming so demanding that you have strayed from your relationship with God, right?
Whatever might be the case or the circumstance that you are in right now, no matter how far you feel you have strayed from God, He wants you to come just as you are. Either circumcised or uncircumcised, insulted or maltreated, lost or frustrated, sick or hopeless, God wants you to come 'laidat'. Jesus Christ wants to lead you to the Father, the throne of Grace and Mercy, just as you are.
Don't try to freshen up or meet the standards set by religion, just come as you are; you know why?
Verse 19 tells us either way, keeping God's commandment is what is paramount. Living our lives according to the commandment of Love that God has laid down for us is way more important than the circumstances we find ourselves in.
I like how the Message Bible puts 1 Corinthians 7: 19, "The really important thing is obeying God's call, following His commandments". So do not think you are not good enough, Jesus Christ was spat on, beaten, thorns where fitted to His head, He was nailed to the cross and bled to death.
Tell me again, why you think you are too far gone to be saved? He has gone through worse than you can ever imagine, He knows your name and thoughts and situation and is waiting for you to take His hand and walk with Him through grace to God the Father.
My sweetums, come as you are to obtain mercy from the throne of grace while steadily obeying His commandments. It's Christmas in a few weeks, make a decision that Jesus Christ becomes more than reason for the season for you; ensure that He becomes the One you look up to per time and season.
God bless you!
