The Diary of Growing Christian
09:51
Today, I read the book of John Chapter 14 and it felt like I was reading for the first time ever. This was the part when Jesus Christ had one of His last conversations with the disciples. It amazed me how intricate the relationship between God and Jesus Christ is. This chapter was a clear cut account on how God is Jesus Christ made manifest in the life He lived on earth.
Also, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see that it is alright to have questions about God, Jesus Christ and how the knowledge of the character of Jesus Christ all comes together to form the basis of our lives.
Thomas had questions about Heaven and getting there. Jesus Christ, in verse 6, told him that knowing Jesus Christ is the way to the Father.
“I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me”
John 14:6
It simply means that to know God, to reach and have an encounter with Him, can only be possible if we know Jesus Christ. The knowledge of Jesus Christ is the same as knowing God because in verse 7, Jesus said; "If you have known me, you should have known my Father also…"
Phillip, like most of us today, wanted to be shown God and be satisfied. I have had similar thoughts like Phillip, thinking that if I see God, then I’d be fine, my service then would be complete because I serve a God that I have seen.
But Jesus Christ told him from verse 9 through to 11,
“ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Phillip?
He that hath seen me hath seen the Father;
and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me?
The words I speak unto you I speak not of myself:
but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Believe me that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake”
Hmmmm!
After reading those verses, I wondered too how Phillip having been on Jesus’ gang had all these questions, talk less of I who wasn’t conceived then.
But the response by Jesus was valid then and is still valid today. You don’t need to see God to believe, you just believe in Jesus Christ, His Son. This belief would surely bear in you a testimony of the awesome power and being of God, the Father.
Like in genetics, I look like my mother and have my father’s smile. So looking at me bares a testimony of who my mother is, but my smile also tells that I am my father’s daughter. Getting to know me further, tells of some attributes from both parents; so also is knowing Christ going to bring you knowledge of God.
So do you really want to know God? Do you need answers to all the niggling questions of whether He is and Jesus Christ truly is His Son? Did He actually die to save our lives?
Then go on to verse 14, “ If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it”
That verse brought tears to my eyes, so all I simply need to do is ask. Ask Him all the questions in your heart, all the needs, the confusion and the hurts and sorrows that you can not grasp; I assure you that Jesus Christ would supply the answers to you.
In verse 26, the Bible says,
” But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance
whatsoever I have said unto you"
So the answers about God will come to from knowing Jesus Christ through the Holy Ghost; Synergy at its’ peak, right?
I think so too!
*smiles*
I had to share this today because in my life I’ve tried to be upright, I kept getting it wrong. In my relationship with people, in how I treat my parents, my neighbours and how I just plain live my life, I realized that I had to do better.
Of course, I do not have all the answers; but Jesus Christ does. So come with me on this journey to know God for myself and live in His purpose for me
