One of the unique things about the Bible is the fact that the same sets of information from the same book gives meaning to a variety of circumstances that constantly keeps changing, yet it maintains it's accuracy.
Let's consider one of the most popular stories in the Bible: David and Goliath. I'm sure almost everyone knows the story, David, a little shepherd boy, killed Goliath, a fierce looking giant with just a sling and stones. However, considering certain details from this story would be very helpful to us in this season.
Note, that David wasn't even old enough to be enlisted in the army, so he only got to know about the Goliath problem because he was asked to go give his brothers food. Yet, when he discovered the problem, he didn't spend his effort talking about how much the "government" has failed, he did what he knew to fix it. All around the world today, everyone is busy talking about how governments have failed in different ways, and Children of God have enlisted in the blame game. It seems we have lost sight of the fact that throughout history, the children of God have shown forth at moments when governments seems to be failing. Goliath size challenges have always shown the stuff Gods children are made of. Zechariah 4:7 - “Who are you, big mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become flat land, and he will bring out the topmost stone, shouting, ‘It’s beautiful! It’s beautiful!’[NCV]. Yes, there are big mountains in the world right now, but you were made for such a time as this, to fall the hands of the giants even the governments can't seem to figure out, and you don't have to be in government to do that. If you were given the chance to represent your country at the Olympics, which sport would you pick? It's been about 5days into the Rio Olympics and American swimmers and gymnasts have been bagging most of the gold medals  in those sports, but just imagine 120kg person trying to go win gold medal in swimming or gymnastics, does it make sense?
You see, because some other events have not started and the spotlight has been on a few sports, there is the tendency to get carried away by medals won in the few events, but it doesn't mean it is the right sport for you. Either you are short, tall, slim, overweight, underweight, whatever class you fall into, there is a sport for you, and there are medals in those sports.
In life, we are all designed to win gold, but some miss out on the gold designed for them because they chose to compete in the wrong sport. It's okay to admire people, but before you decide to fashion your life to be like them, make sure you are not in the wrong "sport". 1 Corinthians 9:24 says - Don’t you realize that everyone who runs in a race runs to win, but only one runner gets the prize? Run like them, so that you can win[GW].
Some years ago, football wasn't considered a profitable career, neither was music, but now that some people have built value into them, lots of people want to do music or play football. Likewise, your area of interest might be something not so admirable right now, but God might be leading you that way because He knows it would be the "cool" job in the future. Don't always settle for the common path to success, you might just lose the chance to birth the spectacular. Like in the Olympics, there is gold for every sport, identify yours, and don't stop till you win it! God Bless You!
