A person is said to be lunatic when his/her thoughts and actions are no longer in conformity with basic human ideals, we say such persons have lost their mind because what they do or say doesn't align with what is referred to as common sense. Every man has 3 divisions; Spirit, soul and body. The man who has lost his mind still has a body, but has a problem with that area that processes thoughts.
1 Corinthians 2:11 says - Who can see into a man’s heart and know his thoughts? Only the spirit that dwells within the man. In the same way, the thoughts of God are known only by His Spirit[VOICE].
I hope you can see that as important as it is for every man to have the ability to think properly in order to be able to live effectively, in the same manner, it is very very important for every child of God to have and depend on God's Spirit in order to be effective.
I believe it's safe to say that a Christian trying to live without the Spirit of God is like a man trying to live without a sound thinking faculty. Hence, understand that you'd malfunction as a believer if you are not led by God's Spirit. The best part, is the fact that God knows how badly you need His Spirit, and He has promised to give into whoever truly desires. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and ask! God Bless You!

There is no vacuum in life. Everywhere you see a vacuum, you know it didn't happen naturally. The Bible even teaches, that when you cast out a demon, that demon would check back if it doesn't find another accommodation and if finds it's old house empty, it would first get reinforcement, then go back into that old spot.
Therefore, this suggests that for every negative you want to get rid of in your life, you must be looking for a corresponding positive to replace it with. Philippians 4:8 says - Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things[ESV]. I'm sure Paul gave us these commandments because he knew that we can't leave our hearts empty without weeds growing on it.
Hence, if you want to stop gossiping, then decide what kind of conversation you want to replace it with. If you want to stop flirting with people, then you need to decide where to channel that energy/skill. If you want to stop being envious and jealous, then mentally design a new you with better qualities.
So, the most effective way to get rid of undesirable habits and character is to find new ones, and trust the Spirit of God to help you develop it. God Bless You!
