What’s the first response that comes to mind whenever you find out that someone you trust is trying to use your head? Well, if you are a normal human being like myself, the most natural thing that would come to mind is to get on the defensive, show that you are also smart, maybe even pay them back in their own coin. However, I’d like to remind you today that one of the things that makes us children of God is our ability to act against our natural human instincts when necessary. 

You see, there is no condition under which you are permitted not to walk in Love towards anyone, no matter what that person has done. Therefore, we must learn to draw the line between hating an individual and hating the actions of that person. 

2 Corinthians 10:6 says - and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled[NKJV]. I strongly believe God would compensate you whenever someone tries to take advantage of you, if you, yourself do not break God’s commandments because of what that person has done. The fact that someone has treated you unjustly doesn’t make it legal to gossip that person, neither does it make slander, hatred, backbiting, or any of the other strife peddling actions right. Look at the story of Jacob, despite all Laban did to him, you will hardly find anywhere it was mentioned that Jacob tried to get back at him. No wonder God compensated Jacob when the time was right. 

Therefore, understand that “do me I do you” is not a spiritual principle, not when it has to do with paying back evil. Just think about it this way, for every time you don’t pay people back for the evil they do to you, God owes you one. God Bless You!
